His Excellency Tahnoon Nimer is a distinguished Emirati business leader and strategic advisor, recognised for his pivotal role in fostering economic development, international cooperation, and sustainable investment across the Middle East and beyond. As Chairman of ADBD Nimer oversees a diverse group of affiliated companies operating across a wide range of sectors — including infrastructure, energy, real estate, financial services, and professional consultancy. His leadership reflects a deep understanding of regional dynamics paired with a globally oriented mindset, enabling the creation of high-impact partnerships and long-term value. Over the past two decades, His Excellency has consistently championed innovation, ethical business practices, and cross-border collaboration. He is widely respected for his ability to navigate complex environments and for building enduring alliances with government entities, sovereign wealth institutions, and global investors. H.E. Jacco van Seventer
Managing Director
After a successful career in the IT industry, supplying the education sector in across Europe and the Middle East, Jan van Seventer joined Abu Dhabi Business Development a quasi government Private Office, in 2008. Working alongside the main board, his responsibilities were varied. Jan's contributions as part of the main board have been instrumental in successfully forming many strategic alliances in sectors such as Insurance, Oil & Gas, sports and television, Aviation, Commodities, Leisure, Shipping and Transport, to name but a few. Jan has worked alongside members of the Abu Dhabi Royal family for 15 years . Fluent in multiple languages, Jan ran the European office introducing companies, products and or new propositions to the Group. Furthermore, Jan has a proven track record in business development, fund-raising and sponsorship.
John Hirst
Managing Director
Following a successful career in the city of London with Invicta, John was one of the founding partners of Zeus, which is now one of the most successful corporate finance and fundraising groups in the UK. He led and structured debt raising, public offerings and private placements to the value of many billions of pounds and as such became a director of 48 separate companies during his tenure. John now works on large, complex pan global transactions with multiple governments at very senior levels. His negotiations involve sovereign funds, multi-varied global institutions, prestigious family offices and major Middle Eastern families. John is currently working with several governments renegotiating and reconstructing their sovereign debt issues. John also holds Advisory Board positions in several other companies.
Alastair Wilson
Head of Legal
Alastair specialises in tax advice, planning and tax controversy work, for corporate and individual clients. He has advised leading banks, and owner managed businesses, and dealt successfully with HM Revenue & Customs enquiries and settlements. In addition, he has set up and advised fund management businesses, property funds and investment structures, and high net worth individuals. Career highlights include advising on the Tax Structuring and Strategy for the Canary Wharf development project; design and agreement of International Pension Plans for executives at many banks, and agreement of these plans by HM Revenue & Customs; structuring of fund management businesses as limited liability partnerships or companies and conversion between the two alternative structures; sale of an interest in a fund management firm to a major international bank; structuring of a fund for investment in South American real estate; settlement of a transfer pricing and trading in the UK enquiry into a fund management group, conducted by HM Revenue & Customs International Division and specialists, with no additional UK tax liabilities. A Graduate of Cambridge University, he was called to the bar in 1977 and went on to work for prestigious firms PriceWaterhouseCoopers, McDermott Will & Emery and GSC Solicitors LLP before becoming a Partner of Gunner Cooke.
Andrew Duckworth BSc (Hons) MBA FRICS FAAV
Non Executive Director
Andrew Duckworth is a corporate financier, advising a number of corporate and institutional clients on long income, renewables, and commodity investments. Originally qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor, Andrew sold his original global asset recovery business to a US based Investment Bank in 2004 and has since advised upon and invested on his own account in a several turnaround projects and renewable energy projects throughout Europe and minerals projects in Africa. These projects have included Carbon Fibre manufacture and production, Power Plants and Energy Parks, Textile Manufacturing and Water Purification. He has also been the lead investor in the acquisition and work-out of several international debt books and restructuring projects. Andrew has advised and provided strategic advice on the acquisition of numerous hotel and long income investments, residential and commercial development projects and a number of commodity and renewable energy projects, and he regularly acts for a number of Institutional and Corporate Investors. He is currently working with several international defence contractors in Europe and the Middle East.
